Mimi'S 90th Birthday

I did this cake for my sister-in-law grandmother's 90th birthday party. They said they wanted pretty instead of fun so I decided this would be a great time to try my hand at gumpaste roses. I haven't had a class on this - just read about it in a book so the learning curve was straight up, but I am very pleased with the way they turned out.

Usually my fondant is smoother than this - I tried a new kind and did not like the way it performed! I think I'll stick with my old recipe from now on and not have bubbles!! I think this one tastes a little bit better, but the taste isn't worth the "bumpiness" on that top layer - oh well - that's why I try new things out on family :)

The top tier was chocolate cake with cookies and cream filling - bottom tier was white cake with pink buttercream filling to match the ribbons.

Kansas Jayhawks Cake

Obviously this was for a Kansas Jayhawk fan - they were in the Final Four this year and this was for their basketball viewing party!

Just Because

This was a little cake I made from left overs of another cake. One of my good college friends was coming to visit me over the weekend and I wanted a little something for her.

Lisa's Birthday Cake

This is a birthday cake for a twenty-something friend of mine who is crazy about chocolate, so it is chocolate cake with chocolate filling and icing!

Valetine's Day Cake

This is cake I made for a silent auction at my church - all proceeds went towards the youth mission trip this summer. Top tier was yellow cake with chocolate filling, and bottom tier was chocolate cake with cookies and cream filling.

Beth's Birthday!

This was a fun cake for my niece's birthday. She is a drama queen so I needed something dramatic for her! It was my first time working with wires and the pattern imprint board - I learned a lot and she was happy! She was so cute - after we took pictures she went to her room and came out wearing an outfit to match - purple pj's!

The cake was chocolate with chocolate buttercream filling, and covered in fondant with fondant fun balls! She had requested "balls" like Duff (Ace of Cakes) has on his cakes - I tried!

Police Badge Cake

I made the cake in a huge hurry! I got word a good friend got into the Police Academy and there was a party that same night - ahh! My sweet husband actually iced it for me and tinted the icing - what a guy! Not my best work ever, but she loved it, and it tasted yummy!

Dallas Cowboys Cake

I made this for the Super Bowl party - I just couldn't bring myself to make a cake for the teams that were in the game! So Da Boys got this Maybe Next Year cake.
